Thursday

My Mum flew in on Wednesday for six weeks. It was so great to see her and John pull up to the curb at Castle Allen. I think it's so interesting that even though we hadn't seen each other for such a long time, that the feeling of distance and time dissolved within moments and it was like they had always been there.

Their first evening was, as you might expect, was pretty low key. John estimated that they had been up 30 hours so cheese on toast and an early night was what the evening brought. We decided to let them sleep as long as they could the next day to help with the recovery so we had a bit of a late start yesterday but even so it was such a nice time! First of all it was 81 degrees (27f)... not a cloud in the sky as we drove to Edmonds to catch the Kingston ferry
And it really was perfect ferry riding weather with how calm it was
Sadly the trip lasted only a few short minutes and then we were off to Blodel Reserve. Though it's really pricey to go there it was perfectly relaxing and well worth going to
You can walk the whole this in a couple of hours. The summer house it just perfection towards the end or the middle of the trip depending on how you approach it. Most of the home is open for you to walk through and day dream about what it must have been like to live here, on these grounds in this special place. It's a very soothing and tranquil setting - look at the view from the back yard
Not too shabby. I would have loved to have stayed longer but we had to have the little giant back in Everett so we said goodbye to Kingston and headed back
But we will be back.. And next time I won't wear heels.
